safeguarding
Safeguarding statement.
Keeping children and young people safe comes first in everything we do.
Everyone who works with young people for TAM has an enhanced DBS check with a children's barred list check, and we follow a child safeguarding policy in line with Working Together to Safeguard Children. If we're ever worried about a young person's safety, we'll act on it straight away and, where it's safe to, we'll talk to you first.
Where a local authority or school commissions our work, we also follow their safeguarding procedures alongside our own, and share any concerns with their Designated Safeguarding Lead as well as ours.
Online sessions
- Sessions only run through TAM accounts, never personal ones
- A parent or carer is at home during every session
- No private contact between mentors and young people outside sessions
- Every mentor is trained in safeguarding and reports concerns to our Designated Safeguarding Lead
Raising a concern
If you're worried about a young person we work with, contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead on 0345 548 0876 or info@theautismmentors.co.uk. If a child is in immediate danger, call 999.
Our full child safeguarding policy is available on request, and we share it with every local authority we work with.
